For these L76 V8 engines, the valve lifters could make a ticking noise when the engine was started and had been off for two hours or more prior to starting; the ticking noise could last from two seconds to ten minutes. What is happening it winds over may fire up but stalls as if its flooded then it just winds over, sometimes it just winds over and wont fire at all and you can smell fuel. It's not related to the fuel system as the Impco system starts on petrol every time, whether you've got the system switched to petrol or LPG. It's more likely to be an engine sensor, such as the crank angle sensor, which is playing up intermittently. Check the connections and the sensor itself. Hi I have a 2006 ve Holden commodore. The car is over heating and temperature gauge rises after 5mins. I have put in new seals, head bolts, oil and coolant. When I start the car it has a real airy sound and when I turn the car off the fans are still running. Sep 03, 2016 · The Hydraulic lifters are known for getting very noisy and creating noises that can lead people to misdiagnose the above mentioned timing chain fault as the cause.
